Cathy is a Barcelona-based photographer originally from Dublin, with a background in documentary photography and a career spanning international editorial, portrait, and event work. Her images reflect a deep commitment to storytelling and human connection.

  • Originally from Dublin and now based in Barcelona, Cathy studied Documentary Photography at the Newport School of Art & Design in Wales, a programme founded by Magnum photographer David Hurn. Her career began in editorial photography, with work published in The Independent (London), The Irish Times, The Miami Herald, The Times of Trenton, and The Sunday Tribune, as well as features in El Periodico, Liberation, and The New York Times.

In recent years, Cathy has focused on portraiture and long-form social documentary projects, including a series following teenagers involved in theatre education. Alongside her personal work, she photographs a wide range of commercial and corporate events throughout Spain and internationally.

Her early recognition includes winning Young British Photographer of the Year (Guild of British Picture Editors) and the Tom Hopkinson Memorial Bursary, awarded by The Independent in 1994. She has participated in the World Press Master Class and was included in its 10-year anniversary publication. Cathy’s work also features in “10 Women for the Freedom of Press” by Reporter Onze Grenzon.
